Curriculum Based Science Programs

 

Discover the wonders of science with our exciting hands-on Science Programs. We offer a variety of programs available for educators (both traditional and homeschoolers) that are designed to fit the North Carolina education standards for each grade and to compliment your curriculum.

Pre-K and Kindergaten

Pre-K and Kindergarten students will expand their knowledge in Earth or Physical Science in hands on programs that include a fun take home craft! 

 

Sensational Sea Life

Explore life under the waves with hands-on science exploration of sea shells and an opportunity to make your own ocean sensory bottle.

Wacky Weather 

Become weather scientists with fun experiments that explore the seasons, rain, wind, and snow. Plus take home a swirling hurricane in a jar.

Dinosaur Discoveries 

Become paleontologists as we unearth clues to life millions of years ago! We’ll learn about plant and meat-eating dinosaurs, create our own fossils, and practice foundational classification and sorting skills.

Sea Turtle

Second Grade

Second Graders can explore Physcial Science, Earth Science, or Life Science in our hands-on lessons that are sure to excite the students and enhance what they have learned in class.

Extreme Weather Science

Become weather scientists with hands-on experiments that explore rain, wind, thunder, lightning, and storms. Learn to use scientific tools

to measure and report the weather.

Remarkable Life Cycles 

Discover the inspiring transformations of animal life cycles as we compare the life journeys of butterflies, frogs, and chicks.

Squishy Slime Science

Explore the chemistry of solids and liquids with exciting demonstrations and hands-on sensory experiments.

Discover the science of sound with hands-on experiments! From singing glasses to talking tubes to vibrating waves, we’ll make the magic of sound visible.

First Grade

First Graders can explore Physical Science, Earth Science, or Life Science in our hands-on lessons that are sure to excite students and enhance what they have learned in class.

 

Magnet Mayhem 

Discover the magic of magnets’ invisible forces with simple experiments that explore the push-pull power of magnets.

Exploring the Night Sky

Explore the mysterious night sky as we learn the secrets of the changing moon, create our own craters, and use an illuminated model to better understand the Earth and moon’s rotations.

Animal Discoveries

Discover animal habitats from around the world and become a science observer as we touch turtle shells, snake skin, feathers, and furs.

​

 

Garden Growers

Explore the science of seeds with hands-on experiments and a chance for each child to plant their own chia pet.

​

Earth and Space

Third Grade

Third Graders  can explore Physcial Science, Earth Science, or Life Science in our hands-on lessons that are sure to excite the students and enhance what they have learned in class.

Outer Space Science

Blast off for outer space with this program. Explore the solar system with our scale model solar system wall, learn the order of the planets, and project the constellations to sit among the stars.

Force and Motion Experiments

Discover Newton’s Laws of Motion through exciting science demonstrations and hands-on stations that are guaranteed to “wow” students.

Slime-tastic States of Matter

It’s slime-tastic! Explore the chemistry of solids and liquids with exciting sensory experiments that react and transform right before our eyes.

Plant-opia STEM Challenge

In this hands-on STEM Challenge, students will design and build a plant that can survive, grow, and reproduce on the fictional planet “plant-opia.” Students develop and apply their knowledge of plant structures and photosynthesis.

Growing Plants

New Advanced 4th -8th Grade Workshops

Fizz, Pop, Bang: Chemical Reactions

Introduce chemical reactions with five fast and fun hands-on experiments.

​

 

Pocket Microscopes

Discover the invisible microscopic world all around us! Each student takes home a working mini-microscope with 140x magnification. (+$3 per student)

​

 

Owl Pellet Dissections

Dissect a real owl pellet and discovers a food chain at work. (+$3 per student)

​

 

Pollinator Garden Boxes

Plant and take home a pollinator friendly greenhouse box with four starter plants. (+$3 per student)

​

 

Bristle Bots

Make a vibrating robot with a real motor for a hands-on introduction to circuitry and robotics (+$4 per student) 

Additional Information

Program Length

Our Science Programs last between 30-45 minutes per session.

Class Size

Programs are designed for class sizes between 15 and 35 students. Groups larger than 35 will be divided into smaller classes that will allow for some students to explore the museum while the others participate in the program, and then rotate until all classes have participated. The max group size for a visit is 100 students. 

Chaperones

One chaperone per five students is required and covered by the cost of the group booking.  Additional chaperones exceeding the 1:5 ratio will be charged $2.00+ tax per person. If the minimum 1:5 ratio is not met, a $20 fee will be added. Chaperones are required to stay with their students at all times and monitor their behavior.

Lunch Room

Students may bring a bagged lunch to eat in the designated dining space. Room rentals are $.50 per student, with a minimum payment of $10. If participating in a Science Program and/or your group has more than 30 students lunch sessions will be added to the rotation schedule.

Prices

 School Program prices start at $3.00+tax per student for museum exploration, there is an additional $3.00 per student for the Science Program, and $.50 per student for lunch rental (if added).  

Payments

Final head count numbers are due 24 hours prior to your visit, Tuesday visits would be due on Friday. Please note that we cannot adjust numbers on the day of the visit. Fascinate-U does not issue refunds for check payments that include students that do not attend.

Cancellations and Reschedules

Field Trip bookings should be canceled or rescheduled with at least two weeks' notice. Bookings canceled within two weeks, or not showing the day of their visit, will incur a $50 cancellation fee. Cancellations should be emailed to lilly@fascinate-u.com
